Voici un véritable enchantement musical sortant des sentiers battus. Des pièces pour trombone et trompette, ainsi que des transcriptions d’œuvres célèbres sont au rendez-vous d’un programme riche en découvertes. Cela commence avec Henry Purcell et l’arrangement de la pièce vocale « Sound the Trumpet », puis « My Dearest, my Fairest », « Hark, how the songsters of the grove ». Le compositeur Folke Rabe, né en 1935 donne le titre à l’enregistrement avec sa pièce “Tintomara” et c’est au tour du Trio pour trompette, trombone et piano de Jean-Michel Damasse (1928-2013). Martijn Padding, né en 1956 et sa pièce « One trumpet » pour trompette seule vient juste avant Maurice Ravel et la « Passacaille » du trio pour piano, violon et violoncelle. Pour finir, deux autres compositeurs contemporains sont également présents, Florian Magnus Maier, né en 1973 et sa pièce « Slipstream » datant de 2012, et Jean-François Michel, né en 1957, avec sa pièce « Eastwind » pour trompette, trombone et ensemble de cuivres. Au cœur d’un jeu clair et virtuose, Wim van Hasselt et Jörgen van Rijen parviennent à emporter l’adhésion d’un bout à l’autre d’un programme exigeant et jubilatoire.
