Nouvelle symphonie d’Anton Bruckner au même festival Schleswig-Holstein en 1990. Il n’y a presque rien à ajouter à cette magistrale interprétation de la septième symphonie de Bruckner. Autre moment bouleversant dans le premier mouvement de la septième symphonie de Bruckner où Günther Wand est littéralement porté, par la musique qu’il dirige : il ferme les yeux, serre le poing et l’orchestre se surpasse. Tout se lit dans l’expression de son visage que le réalisateur n’a pas manqué de cadrer. Il faut ajouter que l’orchestre sonne magnifiquement tout au long de ce DVD. Voilà donc une interprétation exceptionnelle de cette symphonie avec un orchestre transfiguré par la baguette du chef. Il est peu de dire que de tels concerts sont devenus rares de nos jours et personne, actuellement, ne peut rivaliser avec une telle ferveur.

Here is another symphony by Anton Bruckner at the same Schleswig-Holstein festival in 1990. There is next to nothing to add to this magisterial interpretation of Bruckner’s Seventh. Another moving moment in the first movement where Günther Wand is literally transported by the music he is directing: he closes his eyes, tightens his fist, and the orchestra outdoes itself. All is visible in the expression of his face, which the director doesn’t hesitate to film. It should be added that the orchestra plays magnificently throughout this DVD. Here then is an exceptional interpretation of the symphony with an orchestra transfigured by the master’s wand. Needless to say, such concerts are rare nowadays, and no one at present can compare to the fervor seen here.
