Le guitariste espagnol, Ricardo Gallén (né en 1972), revient au disque pour notre plus grand plaisir avec, cette fois, des œuvres de Sérgio Assad (né en 1952), "Colloquial Preludes" en première mondiale, dédiée au musicien, et Heitor Villa-Lobos (1857-1959), "Préludes, W419" et "Suite Populaire Brésilienne, W020". C’est à l’âge de dix ans que Ricardo entre au conservatoire de musique de Cordoue, recevant sa première leçon du directeur et fondateur de l’institution, Tomas Villajos Soler. Il poursuit alors ses études aux Conservatoires de Jaén, Cordoue, Madrid et Grenade, étudiant auprès des professeurs Victor Valls, Miguel Barbera, Demetrio Ballesteros et Carmelo Martinez. Ricardo Gallén a donné de nombreux récitals dans le monde, en tant que soliste ou avec orchestre sous la direction de chefs comme notamment Leo Brouwer, Jordi Savall ou encore Monica Huggett. Comme à son habitude, le musicien espagnol fait montre d’une technique irréprochable, se jouant d’une virtuosité transcendante et d’une rigueur de jeu implacable. Sous ses dix doigts, la guitare se fait incarnation d’une voix, d’un chant et de couleurs flamboyantes jusque dans les moindres détails d’une sensibilité unique. Bref, l’envoûtement est total.
