Michael Alexander Willens, directeur musical de la Die Kölner Akademie, a étudié la direction d’orchestre avec John Nelson à la Juilliard School de New York, où il a obtenu des diplômes de B.M. et M.M. Il a également étudié avec Leonard Bernstein à Tanglewood, ainsi que la direction chorale avec Paul Vorwerk. La vaste expérience de Willens lui a apporté une profondeur inhabituelle et une familiarité avec des styles musicaux allant du baroque au classique, au romantique et à la musique contemporaine ainsi qu’au jazz et à la musique pop. It begins with “Ascanio in Alba KV 111,” then “Idomeneo, re di Creta KV 366,” “The Marriage of Figaro KV 492,” “The Abduction from the Seraglio KV 384,” “Così fan tutte KV 588,” “The Impresario KV 486,” “Mithridates, King of Pontus KV 196,” “The Pretend Garden-Girl KV 196,” “Don Giovanni KV 527,” “Lucio Silla KV 135,” “The Clemency of Titus KV 621” and to conclude “The Magic Flute KV 620.” Michael Alexander Willens, musical director of Die Kölner Akademie, studied conducting with John Nelson at the Juilliard School of New York, where he obtained B.M. and M.M. degrees. He also studied with Leonard Bernstein in Tanglewood, as well as choral direction with Paul Vorwerk. Willens’ vast experience has helped him bring unusual depth and familiarity to musical styles going from baroque to classic, from romantic to contemporary, as well as to jazz and pop.
