L’Orchestre symphonique de Saint-Louis et son directeur musical Stéphane Denève proposent un programme original, mettant en avant deux des compositeurs américains les plus célèbres de l’histoire de la musique : Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) avec " Serenade" d’après "Le Banquet" de Platon, pour violon et orchestre, en cinq mouvements, et John Williams (né en 1932) avec le "Concerto pour violon et orchestre N°1" en trois mouvements. Les deux partitions trouvent, en James Ehnes, l’archet idéal pour une expression sereine et habitée, tandis que l’Orchestre Symphonique de St Louis, sous la direction de Stéphane Denève, offre un accompagnement des plus précieux, en osmose parfaite avec le soliste. Diplômé et lauréat du Conservatoire de Paris, rappelons que le chef d’orchestre français a travaillé en étroite collaboration, au début de sa carrière, avec Sir Georg Solti, Georges Prêtre et Seiji Ozawa. Trois grandes figures de la direction d’orchestre.
