"Pour ce disque célébrant le trente-cinquième anniversaire de notre Trio Prague, qui joue depuis ses débuts en 1986, dans sa formation d’origine, nous avons choisi Joseph Haydn à dessein. La musique de Haydn est fraîche, joyeuse et réjouissante : elle est donc parfaitement adaptée aux festivités. Les cinq trios avec piano de ce bouquet, aux caractères complémentaires, sont riches en contrastes. Le compositeur prend parfois des tournants inattendus dans l’harmonie, ou introduit quelques surprises dans les structures rythmiques... Jouer ces œuvres nous procure une grande joie". Au programme donc, le Trio N°39 en sol majeur (Hob.XV.25), Le Trio N°44 en mi majeur (Hob.XV.28), le Trio N°17 en fa majeur (XV.2), le Trio N°40 en fa dièse mineur (Hob.XV.26) et le Trio N°26 en ut mineur (Hob.XV.13). Cette "grande joie" que souligne le Guarneri Trio Prague, nous la retrouvons, en effet, dans ces pages admirables, que leur clavier et archets font briller de mille coloris au sein d’une musicalité de chaque instant. Une fête musicale, certes, mais également une fête sonore. A thésauriser.

“For this CD,” writes the Guarneri Trio Prague, “celebrating the 35th year of the Trio Prague, which has been playing together since its inception in 1986, we have chosen Joseph Haydn deliberately. Haydn’s music is fresh, sunny, and joyful: it is therefore perfectly adapted for the festivities. The five trios with piano in the bouquet, all complementary, are rich in contrasts. The composer sometimes takes unexpected turns in the harmony or introduces a few surprises in the rhythmic structures…Playing these works gives us great joy.” On the program then are the Trio N°39 in G major (Hob.XV.25), the Trio N°44 in E major (Hob.XV.28), the Trio N°17 in F major (XV.2), the Trio N°40 in F sharp minor (Hob.XV.26), and the Trio N°26 in C minor (Hob.XV.13). This “great joy” that the Guarneri Trio Prague writes about, we in effect find it in these admirable pages that their keyboard and bows bedazzle us with alongside constant musicality. This is most certainly a musical celebration, but also a sonic one. This is a disc worth holding on to.
