Dans cette nouveauté en SACD, nous pouvons redécouvrir les Trios pour piano de deux compositeurs bien connus des mélomanes. Bedrich Smetana (1824-1884), et son Trio pour piano, violon et violoncelle en sol mineur Op.15, à l’inspiration douloureuse, liée à la perte de sa fille de quatre ans et demi. "A l’âge de trois ans, elle chantait déjà des mélodies avec leurs paroles et les entonnait avec justesse... Elle connaissait tous les morceaux que l’on jouait à l’école de musique, ainsi que les noms de leurs auteurs", écrivait-il alors dans son journal. "Les modèles musicaux du jeune compositeur, de culture allemande comme tous les musiciens tchèques de l’époque, sont alors Mozart et Beethoven pour la musique instrumentale. Parmi les contemporains, Wagner, Schumann, mais avant tout, Liszt", précise Pierre-Emile Barbier. Dimitri Chostakovitch (1906-1975) et son Trio pour piano et Cordes N°1 en ut mineur Op.8, en un seul mouvement. C’est l’œuvre d’un jeune musicien encore élève au Conservatoire de Leningrad, en 1923. Puis aussi, le Trio pour piano et cordes N°2 en mi mineur Op.67 datant de 1944. Le Trio Alba (Livia Sellin, violon, Philipp Comploi, violoncelle, Chengcheng Zhao, piano) s’empare de ces œuvres avec la finesse et l’intelligence d’une inspiration nouvelle, mettant en lumière une vision des plus accomplies.

In this new SACD release, we can discover the trios for piano by two composers well-known to music lovers. Bedřich Smetana (1824-1884), and his Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello in G minor Op.15, whose painful inspiration was related to the loss of his 4 ½ year-old daughter. “At the age of 3, she already sang melodies with their words and burst into them with precision…She knew all the pieces that were played at music school, as well as the names of their composers,” he wrote at the time in his diary. “The musical models of the young composer, of German culture as were all the Czech musicians of the period, were Mozart and Beethoven for instrumental music. Among his contemporaries, Wagner, Schumann, but above all, Liszt,” states Pierre-Emile Barbier. Dimitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) and his Trio for Piano and Strings N°1 in C minor Op.8, in a single movement, is also included. It is the work of young musician who was still a student at the Leningrad Conservatory in 1923. And also, the Trio for Piano and Strings N°2 in E minor Op.67 dating from 1944. The Trio Alba (Livia Sellin, violin; Philipp Comploi, cello; Chengcheng Zhao, piano) takes possession of these works with the finesse and intelligence of renewed inspiration, illuminating them with a most accomplished vision.
