Après nombre d’enregistrements consacrés, notamment, à sa musique orchestrale, le compositeur finlandais, Sébastian Fagerlund, offre ici l’occasion de découvrir sa musique de chambre. "Oceano" pour violon, alto et violoncelle, débute le programme de ce SACD. Composée en 2011, cette œuvre, en deux mouvements est interprétée par Minna Pensola au violon, Atte Kilpeläinen à l’alto et Tomas Djupsjöbacka au violoncelle. "Fuel" de 2010 est une suite de six miniatures pour clarinette, violoncelle et piano, commandée par le Festival de musique de chambre de Kulmo en Finlande. "Transient Light" de 2013 pour cor, violon, violoncelle et piano est une pièce initiée par le corniste français Hervé Joulain. En 2010, Sébastian Fagerlund compose sa" Sonate pour Clarinette et piano" pour le clarinettiste Christopher Sundqvist, après "Scherzic", datant de 2008, pour alto et violoncelle, composée pour le Quatuor Meta4. Et pour achever ce parcours de musique chambriste, le Quatuor à cordes N°1, portant le titre "Verso l’interno", datant de 2007, pour lequel le compositeur précise que "la structure de l’œuvre tourne autour du quatrième mouvement lent. Ce mouvement mélodique et fragile constitue le point central dans lequel est présenté le matériau essentiel du quatuor". Une nouvelle fois, l’inspiration de Sébastian Fagerlund entraîne l’auditeur au cœur d’une profondeur musicale infiniment puissante et envoûtante.

After numerous recordings most notably devoted to his orchestral music, the Finnish composer, Sébastian Fagerlund, here offers us the occasion to discover his chamber music. “Oceano” for violin, viola and cello, begins the program on this SACD. And to conclude this journey of chamber music, the String Quartet N°1, also titled “Verso l’interno,” dating from 2007, for which the composer states that “the structure of the work turns around the fourth slow movement. This melodic and fragile movement constitutes the central point in which is presented the essential material of the quartet.” Once again, Sébastian Fagerlund’s inspiration leads the listener to the heart of a musical depth that is infinitely powerful and captivating.
