« Voyage d’Hiver » de Franz Schubert est un chef-d’œuvre intemporel, dont chaque nouvelle parution procure un sentiment de profonde nostalgie. En 1828 un article de presse déclarait : « L’esprit de Schubert montre un parcours audacieux partout où il entraîne avec lui ceux qui l’approchent. Il les emporte très loin à travers l’incommensurable profondeur du cœur humain, où les prémonitions de l’infini commencent pour eux nostalgiquement dans un éclat prometteur, mais où – dans le même temps – le frissonnant bonheur d’un inexprimable pressentiment s’accompagne de la douleur délicate des contraintes du présent qui définit les limites de l’existence humaine ». Aujourd’hui, avec ce SACD, nous détenons une vision d’une grande profondeur, au souffle large, puissant et déchirant à la fois, à l’image de la voix du baryton Peter Mattei. Une voix au timbre envoûtant qui hantera les mémoires, bien après le terme de ce voyage intérieur. Lars David Nilsson offre également un accompagnement pianistique des plus homogènes, que nous apprécieront à sa juste valeur, faisant ainsi de cet enregistrement une aubaine à ne pas manquer.

In 1828 a newspaper article declared: “The spirit of Schubert displays an audacious path everywhere. He takes listeners very far across the incommensurate depth of the human heart, where premonitions of the infinite begin for those who are nostalgic, but where – at the same time – the trembling happiness of an inexpressible premonition is accompanied by the delicate pain of the restrictions of the present which define the limits of human existence.” Today, with this SACD, we behold a vision of great depth, of large scope, powerful and harrowing at the same time, as is the voice of barytone Peter Mattei. A voice of spellbinding tones which will haunt our memories well after these interior travels. Lars David Nilsson also offers us a homogeneous piano accompaniment that we will appreciate, thus making this recording a Godsend that is not to be missed.
