Sous le titre « Lumières Nordiques » se cache une des plus belles découvertes discographiques de cette rentrée 2017. Découverte que l’on doit au talent indéniable de leurs instigateurs que sont l’altiste Itamar Ringel, le Folkwang Kammerorchester, Johannes Klumpp et Katrin Ten Hagen au violon. Cette dernière, véritable « âme » de l’enregistrement, tant sa présence musicale irradie de bout en bout d’un programme exigeant, débuta à l’âge de 14 ans avant de décrocher de nombreux prix comme notamment celui du Concours International de violon de Donald Portnoy à Augusta en Géorgie en 2009. Au sommaire de ce SACD, cinq compositeurs venus du Nord se partagent l’affiche. Ole Bull (1810-1880) avec « Solitude sur la Montagne » datant de 1849, Peteris Vasks (*1946) avec « Vox Amoris » Fantaisie pour violon et orchestre à cordes de (2009), Kurt Atterberg (1887-1974) avec la « Suite N°3 Op.19-1 » en trois mouvements pour violon, alto et orchestre à cordes de (1917), Anders Eliasson (1947-2013) et son « Concerto pour violon et orchestre à cordes » de (1992), Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) et sa « Suite pour violon et orchestre à cordes » Op.117 de (1929). Dans une prise de son exemplaire, le jeu de Kathrin Ten Hagen, fait d’un mélange subtil de virtuosité, souffle et profondeur, se pare d’une clarté omniprésente au service de phrasés remarquables. Under the title “Northern Lights” hides one of the most beautiful discographic discoveries of 2017. A discovery we owe to the undeniable talent of their instigators: the violist Itamar Ringel, the Folkwang Kammerorchester, and Johannes Klumpp and Katrin Ten Hagen on violin. Hagen, the true “soul” of the recording, whose presence radiates from one end to the other of a demanding program, began playing at the age of 14 before winning numerous prizes, such as that of the Donald Portnoy International Violin Competition in Augusta, Georgia in 2009. On the summary of this SACD, five composers from the North share the bill. Ole Bull (1810-1880) with “Solitude on the Mountain” dating from 1849, Peteris Vasks (born 1946) with “Vox Amoris” Fantasy for Violin and String Orchestra (2009), Kurt Atterberg (1887-1974) with “Suite N°3 Op.19-1” in Three Movements for Violin, Viola and String Orchestra from 1917, Anders Eliasson (1947-2013) and his “Concerto for Violin and String Orchestra” from 1992, Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) and his “Suite for Violin and String Orchestra” Op.119 from 1929.
