Le second volume « Orient-Occident » est naturellement tourné vers la Syrie en ces temps troublés. Et Jordi Savall en explique la genèse : « Finalement, après des mois de préparation et de collaboration lors de différents concerts, avec des musiciens de Syrie, de Grèce, d’Israël, du Liban, du Maroc, de Turquie et ceux d’Hespèrion XXI, nous avons décidé d’enregistrer et d’éditer ce stimulant nouveau dialogue entre musiciens orientaux et occidentaux avec des instruments et des musiques de l’ancienne Hespèria chrétienne et juive, avec des istampitte de l’Italie médiévale, ainsi que des chansons, improvisations et danses de Syrie. Cet Orient-Occident II se veut être un fervent Hommage au peuple syrien et être de nouveau un antidote sensible à l’amnésie qui nous déshumanise tant ». Encore une fois, Jordi Savall trouve le ton juste pour définir « l’humanisme musical » et c’est avec un profond respect que nous saluons une telle entreprise.

This Orient – Occident II strives to be a fervent homage to the Syrian people and to once again be a sensitive antidote to the amnesia that dehumanizes us so much.” Once again, Jordi Savall finds just the right tone to define “musical humanism,” and it is with deep respect that we salute such an enterprise.
