Le violoniste Ning Feng est de retour pour un second volume solo et cette fois le programme choisi s’articule autour de trois compositeurs. Serge Prokofiev avec la Sonate pour violon seul Op.115 datant de 1947, Béla Bartók et sa Sonate pour violon Sz.117 de 1944 initié par Yehudi Menuhin et qui sera la dernière grande œuvre du compositeur, ainsi que Paul Hindemith et ses Sonates Op.31 N°1 & N°2 de l’année 1924. Dans une approche sonore lumineuse, transcendant le timbre de l’instrument enregistré, le violoniste chinois Ning Feng subjugue, une nouvelle fois, par un jeu impliqué, d’une rare profondeur, donnant aux œuvres abordées un style plus qu’un ton, une vision plus qu’une interprétation, un message musical plus qu’une narration. Bref, un SACD incontournable et une carrière à suivre de près.

The violinist Ning Feng is back for a second volume, and this time the program revolves around three composers. Serge Prokofiev with the Sonata for Solo Violin Op. 115 dating from 1947, Béla Bartók and his Sonata for Violin Sz.117 from 1944 introduced by Yehudi Menuhin and which was the composer’s last great work, as well as Paul Hindemith and his Sonatas Op.31 N°1 and N°2 from the year 1924. In an approach which is luminous, transcending the tone of the recorded instrument, the Chinese violinist Ning Feng once again subjugates us with deeply involved playing of rare depth, giving the chosen works style rather than tone, vision rather than interpretation, musical message rather than narration. In short, here is a must-have SACD and a career to follow closely.
