Le Trio Zimmermann est formé par Frank Peter Zimmermann au violon, Antoine Tamestit à l’alto et Christian Poltéra au violoncelle. Les Trios pour Cordes Op.9 de Beethoven sont au nombre de trois et sont le fruit d’un jeune compositeur. Ces œuvres, comme le souligne François-René Tranchefort « ne peuvent figurer parmi ses partitions majeures. Cependant, l’Opus 9 fait preuve d’une grande liberté et d’audaces non éloignées de celles rencontrées dans les Trios avec piano ». L’enregistrement qui nous occupe ici est une merveille d’équilibre et de finesse, avec, comme atout majeur, un discours musical vivant, aérien et inspiré de bout en bout. C’est un Beethoven rayonnant que nous percevons dans cette interprétation de grande tenue, un Beethoven humain et sans fard où la musique se suffit à elle-même pour notre plus grand plaisir. Magistral !

The Zimmermann Trio is made up of Frank Peter Zimmermann on the violin, Antoine Tamestit on the viola, and Christian Poltéra on the cello. Beethoven’s String Trios Op.9 comprise three works and are the fruit of a young composer. These works, as states François-René Tranchefort, “cannot be counted among his major scores. Still, Opus 9 demonstrates great liberty and an audacity which is close to that found in the Trios for Piano.” The present recording is a model of balance and delicacy, and its principal interest is its lively musical discourse, which is light and inspired throughout. It is a beaming Beethoven we perceive in this first-class interpretation, a Beethoven who is human and open wherein the music imposes itself for our listening pleasure. Magisterial!
