Pour ce second volet consacré aux Sonates pour violoncelle hollandaises, Doris Hoschscheid (violoncelle) et Frans van Ruth (piano) nous entraînent sur les traces de deux compositeurs méconnues dans nos contrées. Julius Röntgen (1855-1932) et Daniel van Goens (1858-1904). Du premier nous pouvons entendre la Sonate Op.56 en si mineur datant de 1907, Cinq Morceaux de 1917/18, révisés en 1922/23, et la Sonate Op.41 en la mineur datant de 1901. Du second, c’est un scherzo Op.12 de 1895, Invocation Op.36 de 1900 et enfin Menuet op.39 datant de 1900 également. Comme pour le précédent volume (voir Opus HD Magazine N° 51 ), le petit miracle se poursuit, et le duo de musiciens nous invite au partage d’une musique à découvrir et à savourer sans modération. Voici donc une initiative éditoriale à saluer, qui nous éloigne avec bonheur des sentiers battus par le manque d’imagination de certains labels.

For this second volume devoted to the Dutch Cello Sonatas, Doris Hoschscheid (cello) and Frans van Ruth (piano) take us to two composers who are little-known by most: Julius Röntgen (1855-1932) and Daniel van Goens (1858-1904). By Röntgen, we can hear the Sonata Op.56 in B minor dating from 1907, Five Pieces from 1917/18 revised in 1922/23, and the Sonata Op.41 in A minor dating from 1901. By van Goens, a Scherzo Op.12 from 1895, Invocation Op.36 from 1900, and finally Minuet Op. 39 also dating from 1900. Like the earlier volume (see Opus HD Magazine N°51), the little miracle continues, and this duo of musicians invites us to share music that needs to be discovered and savoured without moderation. Here then is a release that must be saluted, one that takes us down new roads that certain labels, by lack of imagination, might shun.
