Voici un enregistrement essentiellement placé sous le signe du plaisir. Plaisir musical tout d’abord, mais aussi plaisir de la découverte, plaisir d’entendre une des plus grandes flûtistes de notre temps s’investir dans un répertoire original et surtout plaisir unique de partager une communion artistique exemplaire. Au programme, « Whirling Dance », pièce pour flûte occidentale et orchestre traditionnel chinois datant de 2007, le Concerto pour flûte et orchestre de Chung Yiu-Kwong, compositeur né en 1956. L’œuvre en trois mouvements fut composée en 2008 et est dédiée à Sharon Bezaly. Puis « Thivats d’Automne » pièce traditionnelle dans l’arrangement de Zhou Chenglong, évoquant la chine antique, le Concerto pour flûte de bambou de Ma Shui-Long, compositeur taïwanais né en 1939, dans l’arrangement de Chen Hsuan-Ho, datant de 1981, « Jolie Fleurs sous la pleine lune » de Huang Yijun (1915-1995) dans l’arrangement de Peng Xiuwen, et pour conclure, « Nostalgie de la brise printanière » de Deng Yu-Xian (1906-1944) d’après une chanson populaire datant de 1930. Avec une grâce infinie, un sens du phrasé unique et un souffle à la maîtrise exemplaires, Sharon Bezaly nous transporte sur des sommets de musicalité inouïs. Accompagné par un orchestre chinois de grande tenue, son discours musical est un parfait équilibre entre virtuosité et plénitude.
