En trois SACD le label Cybèle retrace le parcours pianistique du compositeur et chef d’orchestre français Pierre Boulez, né en 1925. D’après les partitions originales des œuvres, nous pouvons ainsi entendre « Douze Notations » de 1945, les trois Sonates datant respectivement de 1946, 1948 et 1955-1957/1963, « Incises » de 1994/2001 (version élargie de 2001), ainsi que « Une Page d’Ephéméride » datant de 2005. Comme pour les précédents volumes de cette collection dédiée, non seulement à la musique de chaque artiste mais également à leur personnalité, une large interview de Pierre Boulez réalisée à l’IRCAM en 2011 offre la possibilité d’approfondir le sujet. Ce dernier évoque en langue allemande, hélas sans traduction, (un comble pour un compositeur français), notamment Frank Zappa, John Cage, René Char, Jean-Louis Barrault, Antonin Artaud, ou encore Olivier Messiaen. Tout au long de ce périple pianistique exigeant, Dimitri Vassilakis défend ces œuvres avec une rigueur teinté de poésie qui ne peut laisser indifférent. Au cœur d’un discours musical d’une absolue clarté, la légèreté d’un toucher à la fois lumineux et serein marque ces pages d’une respiration unique. Cette parution indispensable, dotée d’une prise de son exemplaire, richement illustrée et documentée, ne saurait être ignorée.
